This week Nova had her first vet check up. (Of course, this didn't stop her from growling at the vet as he walked into our exam room.) She took all of her boosters very well and couldn't get enough of the banana flavored de-wormer! I was extra impressed when the veterinarian pulled out his special stethoscope to listen to Nova's heart closer. After a few very tense minutes he informed us that so far Nova doesn't have a murmur! This unfortunately, is common in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. In fact, 50% of Cavaliers die by the time they are 9 due to heart related issues. Mitral valve disease is greatly associated with this.
Other than the Nova's vet visit there wasn't too much note worthy about this week. Nova is still dwarfed by Luna. Luna still cheats at tug of war by jumping vertically onto the couch. And Nova still manages to make Luna yelp every now and then. Nova has recently picked up the habit of walking into Luna's cage and drinking out of her water bottle. Its funny because one minute they are chasing each other and the next they are in Luna's oversized cage drinking.
